Pest Control Video: German Cockroach Invasion

One of the most common cockroaches in the world, the German cockroach has been discovered by local pest control professionals; in restaurants, homes and facilities.

I’m Having Roach Problems?

Recently, my roach problems have gotten terrible. I’ve had them for years now, and they were pretty much under control. Since the weather has warmed up, they’ve been coming out a lot more and I see how bad it is. Even while typing this, a roach has crawled out of my keyboard and another across my hand. I normally don’t mind them much as I spend very little time at home other than sleeping.

They’re german cockroaches from as far as I can tell, both the long and the shorter types. A few days ago, I used Raid foggers, then being unsatisfied with the results, I used Raid fumigators later that day. Despite this, they are still very abundant, being visible in all rooms of my house, only showing a few bodies to show how futile my efforts are. Never before in the years I’ve had them have they been this resistant to the foggers and fumigators. What can I do to get rid of them asides from calling a professional exterminator?

Can I really get rid of German Cockroaches?

I don’t know who to trust. My apartment has german cockroaches. Pest control is using a light brown bait in my cabinets. They also did a viper treatment in my kitchen where I see them. I was seeing a couple each day. After the viper treatment when I returned I saw one in the laundry room. I am freaking out because now I read the viper/fogger is not good to use. However, pest control said it stops the female from reproducing, it’s not a repellent that will spread them out, and the roaches it kills will cause more to die (from eating the dead one and their feces). Is this true about the viper treatment? Are they lying? Is there any hope?
Thank you for your ansers.

Is it my landlord’s responsibility to pay for an exterminator?

Ok a little background. I live in an apartment with my fiance. We moved in about a year ago. The first night we moved in, the kitchen was SWARMING with german cockroaches. Not just 5 or 6…I’m talking 20-30, easily. We told the landlord and she did not act surprised. She came up to our apartment and put down a bunch of powder. This had no effect. I bugged her for three months until she finally caved and called an exterminator. The day the exterminator came, he put gel in the cupboards which I think was a deterrent, not a bait. I came home from work that day and didn’t see a roach for about 8 months.

The other night, the roaches came back, ten fold. Babies, adults, zooming around on our counters, kitchen floor, and a couple in the bathroom. We are very clean people. We bleach the kitchen at least twice a week, there is no food out on the counters, no crumbs, nothing. Dishes all clean and put away. I told the superintendent and she came up and gave me Max Force bait. I put it everywhere. Cupboards, in crevices, all over the kitchen. Last night, the roaches were out in even greater numbers and it doesn’t look like any of them took the bait.

The superintendent will not call the exterminator. She says because it would be the second visit, I would have to pay for it this time.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. What should I do? I can’t afford to pay for the exterminator to come, but I do pay $870 monthly for rent, should I not be provided with a clean living environment in exchange? How do I get the building to pay for the pest control?
Moving is not an option right now, unfortunately.

If I saw about 5 cockroaches per day in my LA apartment, How many were in the walls?

This was before we had the Pest Control Technicians (not to be called Exterminators) come through. Sometimes Id see large cockroaches of the German breed during the daytime too.

I have seen cockroaches but pest control says we have no signs…Is this normal?

I own a small ranch in the suburbs of MA and have seen and captured (2) in the house and we see them occasionally in the outdoor recycle bins abnd around the back porch (outside). Pest control came and searched the house for signs, but found none. They identified the captured bugs as german cockroaches. We see them in the day light, but have a baby and are up throughout the night turning lights on in dark rooms and have never seen any scurrying away at night. Nothing seems to add up. If we seee them in the day, they should be everywhere at night. Only (2) in the house ever, owned it for two years. Is it possible these ar not cockroaches? Help us!
