Entry from: Cairns, Australia Entry Title: “Road Trip” Entry: “We hired a car for two days to go exploring in and around the Cairns area. First we headed north towards Cape Tribulation. We stopped on the way at Mossman Gorge, where we had a 30min walk along the gorge up to a swing bridge and lookout. There was a longer walk (about 3km) that we could have done, but being short on time we opted against that. It’s a really pretty and scenic walk and worth a stop for. After Mossman Gorge we headed up to Daintree Village for a spot of lunch, before catching the ferry across the river, and heading to Cape Tribulation. We went to the Bat House where we met a bat called Basher (I think!) who had been shot and paralysed in the legs a couple of years ago, but with rehabilitation was managing to use his legs again. It’s amazing the work they do there, and at all these animal sanctuary places. To be honest, we were a bit disappointed with Cape Tribulation. It is beautiful, and when you are driving along with the ocean on one side and the rainforest on the other side, that’s pretty cool, but after all the hype surrounding it, we were expecting some wonderful place and it was just really quiet and boring.
